Meet Micro:Bit - A Microprocessor Designed For Middle School LIMITED

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Limited Capacity seats available

In 2015, the UK began to distribute Micro:bits to all year 7 (6th grade) students with the goal of providing kids with tools to "get actively involved in writing software for computers and building new things, rather than being consumers of media" and to support its national computer science initiative. Two years later, they became available in the US. In this session, you'll be hands on with the Micro:bit and see how computer science and making can come together. Participants are welcome to purchase a Micro:bit Go bundle for $16.50 from SparkFun or Adafruit prior to attending, there will be some demo kits available to use as well.

I've been teaching in and supporting 1:1 environments for over 15 years and most recently have been geeking out on making and computer science. Don't ask what level I'm on in Candy Crush...
